Long out of print history of the Shire of Wongan–Ballidu in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.
FROM THE INTRODUCTION
Each generation accepts only too lightly the benefits and amenities enjoyed in its particular time, without thought of appreciation or gratitude to, the Pioneers whose efforts made them possible.
The Wongan - Ballidu Road Board, conscious of this tendency, has decided to make a record of the early efforts of the Pioneers of our District, so that such record can be preserved for the edification and enlightenment of future generations.
These early Pioneers had stout hearts and high hopes which enabled them to open up and develop this virgin land.\
That they were successful in their efforts to carve homes for themselves and the future generations is very evident in the fields of corn and pasture we see around us; whilst our roads, railways and avenues of communications are in striding contrast to the bush traces blazed by those who led the van in the development of our land.
We who come after should not forget their hardships and struggles and should willingly and efficiently shoulder our obligations to sustain and maintain our heritage so proudly won.
