Wiluna in 950 kilometres by road from Perth, and 180 kilometres east of Meekatharra. Generally the country is fairly flat. To the north east is desert, and the salt lakes lie north.
Aptly titled 'Wiluna: Edge of the Desert' celebrates the centenary of Wiluna, and covers the period 1886 through to 1996.
It tells of the three phases of gold mining; of a vibrant town of 9000 people at its peak; of the reminiscences of 80 people living in the towns, at the mines, and on pastoral properties.
Tales of drovers coming down the Canning Stock Route and policemen searching for murderers, aboriginals and lost prospectors are some of the stories from that lonely area on the edge of the desert.
