Originally published 1880, the origin and descent of the Stewarts overall and of the Stewarts of Appin and their cadet lines in particular are the predominant focus of this extended genealogical history. It begins with a study of the progenitors of this family in England after 1066 and ascertains as well the position of Alan Fitz Flaald at the court of Henry I of England. By 1100 and after, the position of this family becomes more settled. The genealogy and history of the Stewarts of Appin in Scotland assume a more certain and detailed course. This then becomes a detailed account of this family over the course of some 800 years. There is much material on MacDougall, Campbell, MacLean, MacLeod, MacGregor, and Johnstone, as well as extended chapters on cadet Stewart lines such as Ardsheal and others.
This CD consists of scans of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
