The Seven Sons of the Provost: A Family Chronicle of the Eighteenth Century Complied from Original Letters, 1692-1761, Edited by Henrietta Tayler, originally published 1949.
This work consists primarily of a valuable and unique collection of letters preserved in the archives of the Kennedy family of Dunure and Dalquharran in Ayrshire. This particular Kennedy family was closely related to the Kennedy Earls of Cassilis and enjoyed that reflected prestige and power. The father of these seven sons had been Lord Provost of Edinburgh in the reign of James VII and II, and was of the Royalist persuasion. His seven sons all lived long and successful lives, and their letters records the events of the 18th century as they reflected Ayrshire and Kennedy interests.
This CD consists of scans of the original essays, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
