This collection of overlanding experiences cover over a century in time. It is not a history of the Nullarbor settlements and people, but rather experiences of those who travelled this great wasteland.

From the first overlanders, John Eyre and Wyliein 1841, and their companion Baxter, who almost made the journey, only to be murdered by treacherous savages near Caiguna, to the escaping convicts from the ruthless penal settlement of Fremantle heading east, to the prospectors leaving behind the 1890s depression in the East and heading for the Golden West, to the escapists of vehicular travel of the 1920s onwards, to the war time convoys, including the military 'leaders' fleeing an expected Japanese invasion, to the massive migration to the west by farmers out to settle the new west lands in the 1960s, the Nullarboar has seen them all.

This collection contains all the pre WWII material on Nullarbor crossings that could be found. The emphasis is on those who travelled by boot, bicycle, camel, horse, wheelbarrow, covered wagon, and early cars and motorbikes.
