This history begins with an account of the family in Fifeshire, with emphasis upon the name and its origin, various spellings and pronunciations, noted men and women of the name, and the earliest departures to the American colonies. Particular attention is given to Bishop Andrew Honyman of the Orknyes - the first and most recognised member of the name in Scottish recorded history - and his extended family and genealogical descent. The author then turns to the Rev. James Honyman and Rhode Island, James Honeyman, "the spy of Washington," and to others of the name prominent in North America.
Part 2 is a presentation of genealogical lines in Scotland, the United States, Canada, and England.
This CD consists of scans of the original essays, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
