Written in 1905 by Thomas Gill, he has compiled a history of the region of Glen Osmond, in South Australia, like no other.

Thomas Gill worked closely with the few "remaining pioneers", who provided a valuable insight into the history and happenings of Glen Osmond.

To add to the publication, he has also obtained extracts from old directories, newspapers and elsewhere that relate to Glen Osmond. The result is a book (now digitised), that tells the history of its pioneers, the industries, the churches, the local businesses, the mines and quarries, the gardens and vineyards, the local societies, the schools, the volunteer companies and rifle clubs, and more.

Some amazing and very unique features of the book are:

  • extracts from the "Register of Marriages" belonging to the Church of St Saviour's
  • list of householders and old residents of Glen Osmond who were living at the date of compilation in 1905
  • obituaries of pioneers of Glen Osmond
  • Glen Osmond Cemetery - names and dates of death or burial from headstones and burial records
  • many photos
  • map of Glen Osmond
  • 16 page index of names places and subjects

High quality scanned images of the whole of the original book. It has been bookmarked for easy navigation, and pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
