  As the now elderly daughter of an old-time prospector who died young it is now surprising to me that I did not seek out this information earlier. Perhaps it was not available in such an easily readable form. This book, written in the first person, is a good start, set in 1887 and following earlier discovery in the far north. It certainly gives an incentive to seek out more.
