Originally published 1947, and consisting of 230 pages, this history of the MacPhersons first examines the early beginnings of the extended family in Scotland, and then proceeds to the history of MacPherson of Cluny, prominent in the events of 1745-1746, paying particular attention to Clunys role in the history of Prince Charles Edward Stuart.
The book then turns to the history of the family after Culloden before examining in some detail the controversy over the Chiefship of Clan Chattan, in which MacPherson played so important a part. The cadet branches included here are: Dalchully; Blairgowrie; Glentruim; Banchor; Breakchie; Nuide; Pitmain; Invershir and Cattanach; Septs include Clark, Currie, Gillespie, Gow, Keith, Murdoch, MacWilliams, Lees, MacLeish, and MacMurdo.
