This is an account of the Black Watch, and of their service in North America during the French and Indian War, from the time the regiment left Scotland in 1756 through the capture of Fort Ticonderoga in 1759. It provides information on the rolls as they were in May 1757, and as well traces the history of the regiment in subsequent years.
The biographical sketches of the officers as of 1758 are particularly useful and include the family names of Abercrombie, Arnot, Balneave, Campbell, Graham, Grant, Gray, Mackintosh, MacLeod, MacNeil, Murray, Reid, Small, Stirling, Tolmie, and Turnbull, among others.
