Compiled from the records of John Burton Cleland, and published in 1905, the full title of this publication is "The Ancient Family of Cleland: Being an Account of the Clelands of that Ilk, in the County of Lanark; of the Branches of Faskine, Monkland etc; and of Others of the Name".
This is an extended genealogical and historical account of the Clelands, providing information on the status, arms, estates, and genealogy of the Clelands of the Ilk. It includes the Rath-Gael and Stormont Castle in Ireland, and the Clalands of Connoblehill, Auchinlea, Faskine, Monkland and Gartness, Glenhoppe, Blairlin, Stonypath and Barbadoes, and Little Hareshaw. These are all examined in turn and in some detail, and in conclusion there is a bibliography of works by those of this name and recommendations for further research.
This CD consists of scans of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
