"CD seconds" or "spares" are perfectly good data wise, but have been put aside due to:

• faulty label printing, e.g. off colour or misaligned. A few have been manually labelled or corrected
• over-produced initially, so offered as "spares" to clear

They are all offered at 60% to 90% discount (from the normal price). They will be supplied in clear CD sleeves, rather than the normal CD cases. In many cases they are the last available, i.e. they won't be available, even at full price, when sold out.

What is a Police Gazette?
Compiled to be distributed amongst the Police Force only, Police Gazettes contain details and information that can not be found anywhere else. Produced at regular intervals (usually once a week), it was a way of making information available to all in the Police Force throughout the whole state.

What information can be found in a Tasmanian Police Gazette?
The information contained in the Police Gazettes does vary a little from year to year, but overall you will find details of any changes within the police force which are all listed (promotions, demotions, discharges, resignations, deaths), information is also given on housebreak-ins, robberies, arson, murders, arson, rewards, warrants issued, lists of arrests and discharges, lost horses and cattle, deserters from services and from families, escaped prisoners, missing friends and lost and found items. Notices from interstate police gazettes are usually included if it was felt that the person may be heading towards that state.

How can this help me?
Anyone researching their family will have a 'lost' family member or two! You may well find them listed here, being on either side of the law. Or maybe they were a Policeman who transferred to another department or division, or someone that was a victim of a crime. You can find the physical details on persons listed here, missing, wanted or released, which helps to paint a picture of them (name, aliases used, age, height, colour hair, colour eyes, distinguishing features, even colour clothing worn).

Far from being just a unique and extremely fascinating resource for local, family and social historians - they are useful for anyone with an interest in Tasmania in 1932. The CD contains all issues that were released during that year.

APPOINTMENTS, RESIGNATIONS, TRANSFERS &c.
Resignation - Constable G. A. Hall, No. 164, of Zeehan, as from the 30th ultimo.
Transfer - R. R. McArthur, No. 260, from Hobart to Launceston, as from the 25th ultimo.

BURGLARY, HOUSEBREAKING, &c.
Hobart - Wilfred Kellett, 48A Murray-street, reports that his shop was broken and entered, between 6.20 p.m. on the 29th and 8.30 am.m. on the 30th ultimo, and the following stolen therefrom:- 30s in money; and a small gold-mounted pendant compass, red stone set as back, glass screatched; compass identifiable.

DESERTERS FROM H.M. SERVICE
Warwick Edward Fry, Able Seaman, native of Coogee, New South Wales, aged 21 years, height 5 feet 5 1/4 inches, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes; scar left forearm.
