Police gazettes provided information and instructions to members of the police force. You can expect the Tasmanian Police Gazettes (in the earliest

• prisoners discharged from gaols and released on tickets of leave
• property and stock recovered
• rewards - names of persons offering a reward
• victims of arson
• victims of horse and cattle stealing or straying
• victims of lost or stolen property
• victims of sheep stealing or straying

Persons Inquired For
Hobart - Gustav Wilhelm Lindon. Equiry is requested at the instance of the Military Authorities, 6th Military District, with a view of ascertaining the present whereabouts of the abovenamed alien, who is described as a Russian (age not supplied), height 5 feet 8 insches, fair complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, stout build. This man was recently employed on the s.s. "Hall Caine", which vessel he has since left, and now cannot be traced. He was registered under the War Precautions (Aliens Registration Regulations at Newcastle, New South Wales, as No. 462, on the 26th July 1917. If located, keep under serveillance, and immediately telegraphy this office when a warrant for his arrent will be applued for.
