Listing thousands of names throughout the year's worth of issues, you will find information in Police Gazettes that can not be found anywhere else.

Generally issued once a week, you will find information on housebreak-ins, robberies, arson, murders, lost horses and cattle, stolen cars and motorbikes, inquest verdicts, escaped prisoners and reports on those released. Also included are court lists, lists of warrants issued, appointments and changes in the Police Service, lists of arrests, escaped prisoners, and missing persons, men deserting their wives and children as well as deserters from service, missing friends and more ... Notices from Police Gazettes from other states are also often included.

The Queensland edition is a little different from other states in that it includes details of those applying and holding various licences, such as: treasury licences, auctioneers, wine-sellers, wholesale spirit dealers, victuallers and transfer of victuallers licences, billiards, packets and more. Many photographs are also included in this year's issues.

Murder
Chinchillia - About 8 p.m., 9th instant, George Robert Clements and George Laxon were shot dead whilst sitting on the verandah of a hut at Shanks's Selection, near Baking Board Siding, Western line; the former was shot dead, while the latter was shot in the throat, the bullet subsequently extracted, and he has since recovered. Suspicion attached to Dick Normanton, a tracker, who absconded from Condamine Police Station, near Roma, and was seen at Condarra, an out-station of Auburn, on 14th instant: he was then in company of Condarra aboriginals, to one of whom he gave a silver hunting watch (since recovered). It has since been ascertained that the watch, a 44-cal. Winchester rifle, and about 18 cartridges, the property of Arthur Brodie, were stolen from a hut in the Condamine District. A cartridge shell found near scene of the murder corresponds with the cartridges stolen from Brodie's hut. Suspect is 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight build, small moustache; wearing a soft white shirt, brown tweed trousers, black vest, cossack boots, and felt hat; carried a swag, and originally came from Normanton District. Every effort is to be made to locate suspect. If located, detain, and wire Inspector Geraghty, and Officer in Charge, Criminal Investigation Branch, Brisbane.-O.939. 24th March, 1909
