Apart from any changes within the police force which are all listed (promotions, demotions, dismissals, deaths etc), information is also given on housebreak-ins, robberies, arson, murders, lost horses and cattle, deserters, escaped prisoners, reports on those released, even deaths reported to the police (together with their place of death and cause of death given). Notices from interstate police gazettes are sometimes included.

Highway Robbery and Stealing from the Person
Stolen from off the finger of Charles Card, fireman on s.s. "Quiraing", whilst asleep on the verandah of the Harbour View Hotel, Cooktown, on the night of the 20th ultimo, a gold ring, Oddfellows' emblem (heart-in-hand) on top, "C.E. Card" scratched inside, small part of hoop cracked; value 35s. Identifiable. 2nd May, 1883.
