faulty label printing, e.g. off colour or misaligned. A few have been manually labelled or corrected
over-produced initially, so offered as "spares" to clear

If you had family living in Queensland in the 1870s, have you thought of looking at the Police Gazettes for information? These are a historian's goldmine of information. Compiled to be distributed amongst the Police Force only, these Gazettes contain details and information that can not be found anywhere else. Far from just listing those who were in the Police Force, or those that were on the 'wrong side' of the law - you will also find entries of missing persons, or they might be a witness to crime, or they may have had something stolen from them, or they may even have found an item, and reported it to the Police.

Stealing Otherwise than from the Person or from Dwelling-Houses
Charles Puck is charged, on warrant issued by the Leyburn Bench, with stealing No. 8 on this month's list, the property of Michael Fogarty, of Leyburn, on the 10th April, 1873. Puck is a Dane, about 30 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, fresh complexion, red whiskers and moustache; a carpenter by trade; supposed to be in Warwick. 25th April, 1873.

A warrant has been issued by the Brisbane Bench for the arrest of Joseph Tubbs, charged with forgery. He is 45 years old, 5 feet 10 inches high, hair black, and curly at back, thin black whiskers, weather beaten features, roman nose, quiet address, has the appearance of a seafaring man, generally dresses in dark clothes, has lately been getting timber for the Mackay embankment, and is well known to the timber getters around Brisbane. The above reward is offered for such information as will lead to the arrest of the offender. Information to the Commission of Police, Brisbane. 30th April, 1873.
