Education Gazettes are another wonderful, but underused resource for family historians. The primary role of education gazettes was to provide instructions and information to the staff of government schools throughout the whole of the State. You will find individual teachers and staff named in sections headed:
- staff deployment: admissions, transfers, left the service
- tenderers for works accepted
- teachers college students
- army cadet corps result of rifle shooting
- winners of scholarships and bursaries
You can use the Queensland Education Gazettes to find details on the appointment and dismissals of teachers, or other staff in the Education Department, as well as details on the opening and closing of schools, wage information and more.
The Queensland Education Gazettes were issued once a month, and this CD is a compilation of 5 years worth of these Gazettes from 1936-1940.
The CD contains high quality scanned images of the whole of each years worth of issues. This CD has been bookmarked for easy navigation, and pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
