Calliope is a small rural town of about 1,550 people located near the junction of the Bruce and Dawson Highways, twenty kilometres south-west of Gladstone. It is said to be named after the ship Calliope which brought Governor FitzRoy to Port Curtis in 1854. The cemetery is located at 60 Morcom Road, Calliope
