Lochaber is a district in the south of mainland Inverness, and is bounded by Perthshire, Argyllshire, the Great Glen, and Badenoch. It was a region long isolated from the rest of Scotland, and until the appearance of the railroad in the 19th century, long retained its strong Celtic and Viking character and its preoccupation with a series of great families who for centuries had defined the course of its history. Literally every great family which we think of as being "Highland" would have had a presence in this region, including in particular the Camerons, who are treated in the greatest detail. The Comyn, Mackintosh, Davidson, and MacPherson families, and the Clan Chattan in general, play a major role, as do the Donald, MacLean, MacMaster, Fraser, Campbell, Mackenzie, and MacDonnell of Keppoch families. There is much material here about the Lordship of Lochaber, Inverlochy Castle, the Jacobite rebellions, and other matters of intense interest to the history of the region.

This CD consists of scans of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
