'Jungle Warfare' is the fourth book in the series on the Australian Army during World War II. It tells the story of the events in the jungle, mountains and swamps of New Guinea. Again the stories were penned by those actively serving bringing the individual's perspective on the war. Their ingenuity in getting the material off the battlefield was commented on by the editors – "One sketch arrived in a length of tired bamboo; another in a metal ammunition cylinder, produced in Japan for a somewhat different purpose". Again, by necessity, authors are acknowledged only by their army number.

The main contribution outlines the campaign in the Battle for New Guinea; others give us a glimpse of what life for the soldiers was like – Adventure in the AAMWS, This Leave Business, Yet Death Gave Me This, Skipper, Joe was an Expert, Picnic Races, and Pin-up Girl. Places and battles long forgotten by most are brought to life – Nadzab, Lae, Markham Valley, Finschhafen, Satelberg, Finisterre Range, Shaggy Ridge, Katika, Salamaua, Huon Peninsula, Oro Bay, Busu River and more.

The book contains many images and sketches, both colour and black and white, of personnel, equipment, maps and places. It is a valuable resource and a great read for all interested in military history.

This CD contains high quality scanned images of the original book, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
