This two-CD set contains a complete run of the Journals of the Society of Australian Genealogists. It was first published in 1933 as The Australian Genealogist, which continued until 1959. There was no publication in 1960 and from 1961 up to and including the December 2008 issue, the Journal has been published as Descent.

Newsletters were published at various times from the 1930s to the 1970s and are included. Since 1978 Descent has been published quarterly; before that time it was published less frequently but the numbering of the Journals is continuous.

Over the past 75 years the Society's Journals have included reference articles, family histories, photographs, extracts from historical records including many NSW cemetery transcriptions and parish registers, news about the Society and enquiries submitted by researchers.

For the first time the Society's Journals are fully searchable as a PDF document on CD-ROM - published by Archive Digital Books Australasia in association with the Society of Australian Genealogists.

This price does not include a licence for commercial or public library use - see "public use" entry. However, family history and other 'not for profit' societies may order at THIS price.

I was blown away at the amount of genealogical information contained within these journals! I have found information on my ancestors that I did not know about. This is now my “go to” resource when researching families or individuals. Was also impressed by the way errors are corrected in the later issues with reference to the earlier incorrect version.

As usual the search function on these CD is excellent. Would highly recommend this to serious researchers.
