What he produced was the 'History of Warrnambool: from the first Government land sales in 1847 to the end of 1886'. Osburne describes in detail forty years of settlement, trade, religion, education, sports, associations, government, statistics and people in the town of Warrnambool from his point of view as a man connected with nearly all the public movements of the town - social, political, and religious - from 1847 up to 1886.
