Published in 1897, the fifth volume covers the period 1803 to 1805. It encompasses the main part of King’s term as governor – a period "of remarkable activity and importance". As with the earlier volumes, it consists of an extensive set of letters, General Orders, other official documents, maps and photographs relating to the colony during the period. It covers all aspects of life in the colony at the time.
