First published in 1848, this is a revised edtion with significant corrections, bringing it up to date to 1895. The primary chapters concern the Mackintoshes of Borlum, Simon Lord Lovat, Lord President Forbes, Sir George Mackenzie of Rosehaugh, and the family of Chisholm. There are in addition chapters on the Mackenzies of Rosehaugh, the Black Watch, and an addendum detailing the history of Inverness in olden times, with chapters on interesting and unusual town characters.
Written by John MacLean, and edited by Finlay Maclean, this 198 page book is now available on CD-ROM.
