This product is sold as a CD SECOND or SPARE.
"CD seconds" or "spares" are perfectly good data wise, but have been put aside due to:
- faulty label printing, e.g. off colour or misaligned. A few have been manually labelled or corrected
- over-produced initially, so offered as "spares" to clear
They are all offered at 60% to 90% discount (from the normal price). They will be supplied in clear CD sleeves, rather than the normal CD cases. In many cases they are the last available, i.e. they won't be available, even at full price, when sold out.
---
This CD contains all 16 volumes of William Phillimore's transcripts of marriages from various registers covering Hampshire on one CD, in the form of searchable entries. (Phillimore's did not have access to the registers in all parishes when making the transcripts. For parishes included see below). The transcriptions for each parish contain the whole of the registers for each parish from the first available preserved register (usually in the 1500s and as early as 1538) up to either 1812 or in many cases, 1837.
Just 150 copies of each volume were printed. These are very rare and sought-after books of incredible value to the family historian.
A few sample entries are as follows (Note: the later ones contain a lot more information than the earlier ones):
Williamus Bayle & Maria Massum 28 Jan 1548
Francis Popham, gent., p. Wellington, Somerset & Mrs Letitia Popham p. St Thomas, lic 25 June 1717
John Mountain, p. St Faith, under St Paul's London, & Mary Ann Furmage, p. S.M.W., lic
High quality scanned images of the originals, the CD has been bookmarked, and made searchable to facilitate easy navigation. Pages can be enlarged and printed out if required. This truly is a wealth of information for the Hampshire parishes that are covered.
