In this history of the district of Tea Tree Gully, originally published in 1976, Ian Auhl has traced the occupation and settlement of the district and the growth of its seven early villages and townships: Houghton, Hope Valley, Highbury, Tea Tree Gully, Modbury, Golden Grove and Inglewood. He has also included the story of local government in the area since its beginnings in 1853 and has added a brief summary of the growth of the recently proclaimed City of Tea Tree Gully.
Two new chapters, researched and written by Robyn Taylor have been added to this third edition published in 1993 - one on Tea Tree Gully since 1976 and another on the new Golden Grove Development since 1970.
