Originally published 1898, this genealogical and historical account of the Dunlops begins with a discussion of the origin of the name and continues with a history of the early holders of that name in Scotland, including the Dunlops of Garnkirk and Tollcross, and the inter-related Stirlings. It continues with a history of Dunlops in Glasgow, and the University of the Glasgow in particular, in the American Revolution, and as merchants in Scotland and the Netherlands. Lastly, there is extensive material on the life and works of John Dunlop of Rosebank.
The whole is an extended survey of those of this name found throughout Scotland and of their lives and times over many centuries.
This CD consists of scans of the whole of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
