"The rapid tempo of war had led to an increasing speed in the development of equipment. It is probably true that such developments moved at a more rapid rate during the recent war than ever before in the annals of history. In no arm or service of the fighting forces has this development been greater than in the Engineers." - General Sir Thomas A. Blamey

This publication describes the work and achievements of the Royal Australian Engineers throughout the duration of the Second World War. It includes a list of Engineers involved in campaigns during the war, a list of those who were presented with decorations and awards, and a memoriam list of those who lost their lives.

A particular feature of this book are the range of photographs taken in the Middle East, and the sketches and paintings by Sgt. J.A. Salt which document the work the Royal Australian Engineers were involved in, in Borneo and Australia during the War.

High quality scanned images of the whole of the original book, bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.

For anyone researching the history of the Royal Australian Engineers, this is a must have for the library. From the foreword by General Sir Thomas Blarney, GBE, KCB, CMG,DSO, ED, to Sgt Salt's beautiful set of colour works, this 78 page book stays on point. It includes the history and formation of most units, and a comprehensive list by campaign, of where all the engineer units served. There is a poem, a song, photos of the Middle East, and sketches of Darwin. It is now included in the most important books I have of WW2.
