Original c1939 edition - very good condition

This 43rd edition, covering the Western Section of Victoria, includes extensive information on tourist destinations, accommodation, and camping in the region. For each place a road mileage chart indicates the distance from Melbourne and advertisements for the holiday resorts, guest houses, cafes and garages provide information about the establishment - often including a photograph.

There is a map of the entire western section of Victoria, (including part of the Riverina and part of South Australia) and special tourist maps covering the Dandenong Ranges, Daylesford, the Grampians, Hepburn Springs, Lorne and Phillip Island. As well, knowing that many motorists have difficulty finding a course through the larger cities and towns, maps showing 'outlets' for Ararat, Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Geelong, Hamilton, Melbourne, Mildura, Mt Gambier Renmark, and Warrnambool have been included.

The Grampians
Rugged Peaks, Waterfalls, and Wildflowers
A PECULIAR feature of the Grampians is that many of the peaks and spurs rise on slopes from the west and suddenly end with precipitous sides in the east, presenting clear-cut, sharp escarpments, and in their several formations have led to features receiving somewhat romantic and characteristic names. For instance, there is the Signal Rock, Point Sunshine, Wonderland Peak, Gates of the West Wind, The Sundial, Cape Horn, The Watch Tower, Venus' Bath, Grand Canyon, Woolpack Rocks, and so on.
