Ballarat is not only Victoria's largest inland city, but it holds such an important in Australia's history due to the gold found in the region. Founded in 1838, gold was first discovered in the region in 1851.Once word got around, thousands of people flocked from all around the nation in search of gold. By 1852 there were estimated to be about 20,000 diggers all searching for gold.

Due to this population explosion, Ballarat was proclaimed a town in 1852. By 1855, Ballarat was a municipality, a borough by 1863 and a city in 1870.

Here in this Compendium, you will find 5 books all relating specifically to Ballarat and the surrounding districts compiled together on the one CD. Not only is it much easier to use, but also by buying it as a set, you save $$$ off the price of buying each title individually!!
