This book introduces the history and records of migration to Australia from 1788.

Migrating to a new country was one of the most dramatic life changes anyone undertook and it certainly affected the lives of their descendants. Investigating their journey is a key part of your family history research.

However immigration records in Australia are not all held in one place - when, where and how they arrived affect where (and whether) records of their arrival can be found. Understanding categories of arrivals and the immigration schemes in place as well as the general principles of where documents are held, will give you confidence that you have looked in all the right places.

This title is NOT a listing of names and their arrival details, but rather a research guide to direct you to archives, repositories and others that hold records relating to immigration.

Lots of info which was interesting. A bit hard when the book was unseen.

I bought this book due to my avid interest in history. If you are similar, don't get this book. It is not a book it is simply a brochure, tiny, thin and very expensive for what it is. To say I am disappointed is an understatement - how do I get a refund. Cannot believe how it cost so much for so little. Not happy

I have just received this order and glancing through it looks to be exactly what I am after. I am though, in the process of shifting home and won’t get to use it or access my Family History work for a month or so yet. All told I am sure this book will help me with a couple of "brick walls" I have come up against in the recent researching of ancestors who came from overseas to Australia.
