Written by H. Mortimer Franklyn, and published in 1881, this "shows the present condition and production of some of its leading industries, namely, wool, wine, grain, dressed meat, etc. The amount of each produced and exported. To which is appended the rise and progress of some of the leading mercantile houses in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. And also a pastoral and agricultural directory of the whole of Australia."

This lovely book describes each area of Australia in detail, with lists development and facilities in over 400 pages, plus over 100 pages of directory listing people in two columns, followed by lot of advertisements, many of them illustrated.

It contains high quality scanned images of the whole of the original book, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.

While this may have been better in other states it comes up short for Western Australia. Very few I know of in WA are actually listed and I think this would have been a pay to be included publication similar to ones I have been asked to participate in in more recent times. The result is that it has far from comprehensive coverage.
