This is a revision, and in part an expansion, of The Ancient and Noble Family of the Savages of the Ards. It is a work which gives a history of this family in Cos. Down and Antrim, as well as a history of the English and American lines of the family. It begins in the late 12th century and continues over the next 700 years, with considerable material on the 16th-century controversy over seniority between the branches of the family. There is a study of the establishment of the separate houses of Ardkeen and Portaferry. The Savage family at Carrickfergus, Savage of Audleytown, and the familys association with the MacDonells of the Isles form part of the appendices. Overall, it is a history of a family most often associated with England and with Ulster.
This CD consists of scans of the original book which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
